We endeavour to promote the use of Indigenous SA plants as flowering pot plants. In 2013, we started investigating the small-scale commercial cultivation of lachenalias (Afrikaans: Viooltjies). At present, we are also sorting out the cultivation requirements of calla lilies.
We endeavour to promote the use of Indigenous SA plants as flowering pot plants. In 2013, we started investigating the small-scale commercial cultivation of lachenalias (Afrikaans: Viooltjies). At present, we are also sorting out the cultivation requirements of calla lilies.
This project was initiated to share these beautiful plants with the people of the Western Cape. The name of our business, Lachbosch Plants, is a combination of Lachenalia and Stellenbosch, the location where we cultivate the plants.

Today, we grow approximately 1500 potted Lachenalia plants, which are delivered to the finest nurseries in the Western Cape and some stores of a major retail group.

Due to the need for sunlight, most of our Lachenalia pot plants are cultivated on the roof of our garage.
