Lachenalias (Afrikaans: Viooltjies) are indigenous to South Africa and grow wild in the Western and Northern Cape. Colours available include different shades of yellow, blue and red to brighten up a dull winter office, home, veranda or garden.

Lachenalias are excellent pot plants.

Characteristics
· Flowering time from the end of June to the end of August, depending on the cultivar.
· Flowers last for four to six weeks, depending on the keeping temperatures.
· Sun or semi-shade.
· Light sensitive. Too much shade causes plants to grow very tall.
Care
· No overwatering.
· Water every 3rd day indoors or every 2nd day in direct sun to ensure that roots are kept moist at all times.
· Potted plants should be kept in spots where light intensity is high but not directly in full sun.
